Fulton Street Emergency Shelter

Department Overview

As one of UCC’s longest-serving resources for the community’s most vulnerable residents, the Fulton Street Emergency Shelter serves as a lifeline for individuals experiencing homelessness and urgent crises.

Why Fulton Street Emergency Shelter Exists

Through case management, housing assistance, and legal support, the Fulton Street Shelter continued to meet the needs of individuals with pressing needs. The Fulton Street Shelter, led by Senior Director Cathy Booker, provides a clean, safe space for homeless individuals to stay for up to 30 days.

Comprehensive Housing Assistance

UCC’s Emergency Services Department supported approximately 500 individuals last year, helping them in various ways whether it was obtaining housing vouchers, securing permanent housing, reconnecting guests with family members to regain stability, or providing a warm bed for the night.

Support for Undocumented Individuals

UCC collaborates with partners to assist undocumented clients and access support services.

Emergency Respite Program

In 2025, UCC launched a new program focused on unsheltered individuals referred through partnering hospitals, ensuring they have a safe place to sleep as well as to heal and recover, and navigate proper treatment while working toward stable housing. Over the course of the year, UCC’s Respite Program assisted more than 30 individuals.
