UCC hosted a Senior Love Day Brunch on February 5 at the West Side Park Community Center in Newark, bringing together seniors from across the community for a day of connection, celebration, and support. The event served as an opportunity for seniors to engage with one another while accessing essential resources offered through UCC, including its Youth, Family and Senior Services Department.
At the Senior Love Day Brunch, attendees not only had the opportunity to share in the comfort of great food, music, and keynote speakers, but they also learned more about UCC's services while strengthening their self-worth and recognizing their value in the community.
Reaching out to seniors is essential because many older adults face challenges such as social isolation, limited mobility, and financial hardship. Events like the Senior Love Day Brunch create opportunities for seniors to build relationships, stay informed about available resources, and feel a sense of inclusion. Providing spaces where they can connect with others and receive support helps improve their overall well-being and ensures they remain an active part of the community.
The event was made possible in partnership with Newark West Ward Councilman Dupre Kelly, who remains committed to ensuring that seniors in the city have access to the support they need. Additional partners and supporters for the event included Wellpoint, Newark Centers of Hope, Essex County, Partnership West, Inc., and the Newark Department of Public Safety.
Through initiatives like the Senior Love Day Brunch, UCC continues to uphold its goal in serving and uplifting the community.
