UCC staff Cathy Booker, Senior Director of Emergency Services, and Yucleidis Melendez, Director of Medical Respite Center, attended the NJ Governor’s Conference on Housing and Economic Development, which offered a comprehensive look into the current landscape and future direction of housing initiatives across the state. The two-day event featured a robust agenda of sessions and panel discussions focused on critical topics such as affordable housing development, community revitalization, equitable access to housing, and sustainable economic growth.
In addition to educational programming, the conference included a trade show that showcased a wide range of resources, tools, and services from public agencies, private organizations, and nonprofit partners. This space facilitated hands-on learning and direct engagement with key stakeholders and solution providers.
The conference also served as a dynamic platform for networking, bringing together professionals from government, development, finance, advocacy, and social services. The connections Cathy and Yucleidis made and insights shared throughout the event contributed to a deeper understanding of the collaborative efforts needed to address New Jersey’s housing challenges and to promote inclusive, community-centered development statewide.
